Tribute to TFIOS: Favorite Quote On Canvas DIY

So to celebrate the premiere of The Fault In Our Stars in theaters based on the best selling book by My Lord and Savior (Just kidding) John Green. Earlier in the year i did this on a piece of poster board paper and now that its getting hot, the tape has not been doing its job of sticking to the wall. So, I wanted to transfer it onto a canvas so that it'll be more secure and official. I have decided to share this great project with the public so follow along. If you want.

Things You May Need:

1. A Canvas.
2. Acrylic paint (Blue, white, black)
3. Various Paint Brushes
4.A Surface to work on
5. A plate or piece of cardboard to mix and put paint on
6. An Outline

1. Prepare your work area. I wanted to lay out some newspaper but I couldn't be bothered so I just did what any other person with common sense would do. I spread out a plastic bag and taped it down.

Perfect
2. Mix your blue and white acrylic paint to get something that resembles the background of the original The Fault In Our Stars background. cover the whole entire canvas. If you want to know, I used an 8x10 sized canvas. What can I say, it was on sale.

Not exact, But its ok.
2. Make an outline of how you want the clouds to be on the canvas on a blank piece of paper and fill them in with your favorite quotes. I already had the one from when I made a giant poster.

3. Trace the clouds onto the canvas with a pencil, pen, whatever. What I did was, I went back and forth on the clouds being white and black, labeled them with a B and a W and started to fill them in.

Half way there!

4. You might want to go back and fix up the sides of the cloud. I know I did. It took me a while but I got there.

BAM!
5. Now for the last thing. writing down your quotes into the clouds. I wanted to stick to the original style of black on white and white on black. When i first did this on Poster paper I wrote it with colored pencil. This time it wouldn't come up so I decided to tediously fill in the clouds with paint with a dotting tool. Major FAILURE.

Finger cramps setting in. There I am in my old Middle school T-shirt.

6. I had to up the ante so I went to Walmart and saw these paint marker pens. I got the fine ones in Black and White. Time to fill in the most heart wrenching, gut aching quotes I've ever seen on paper.

The finishing product:

TaaDaa!!!!!

Tip: If you mess up, its okay the only thing to do is just paint over the mistake. I did this about 30 times.

And that's it. My tribute to The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. I plan on seeing the movie soon (actually don't know yet) I know that I will be a wreck. Hoped you like it. Later.

OH! I forgot to tell you to not to forget to sing and date your art.You never know it may be worth something one day.

Samantha Read: The Scorch Trials by: James Dashner

"The Maze Was Just The Beginning"

This is the second book in The Maze Runner trilogy. I have to say this book was completely different than the first one. Maybe it was because I read the PDF version of The Maze Runner on my phone and I read the printed version of The Scorch Trials. But this book is what all sequels should be. Better than the First.

The story starts of where it ended in the first book. Thomas, Teresa and the Gladers feel like everything is over. They beat the Maze and they finally escaped. But how long can things be good?

They have a mission. Thomas and the Gladers have to travel 100 miles north to reach the Safe Haven, where they will get the cure for the infectious disease that is ruining Mankind; the Flare. This journey will be the most dangerous thing they've ever had to do. but, they have no choice. Along the way they'll meet new friends, dodge Cranks, get tattoos, and the true bond of friendship will be tested.

I loved this book. Every chapter I fell more in love with Minho. He is the symbol of everything right with this book. I love that hes brutally honest, he'll never lie to you and he'll tell you straight up how he feels. He always fights for whats right. whether it be for himself or for his friends; he's not afraid of anyone or anything. Even when he's been struck by lightning, almost burned into the ground can he insult and degrade a a leader of Cranks and punch him in the face. He's just amazing.

This book introduced three new characters, one being a potential love interest for Thomas. She super bad-ass and can handle herself. During this book even though Thomas wanted to stay true and faithful to Teresa; I levitated to Brenda. She eventually won me over. Did I mention how much I hate Teresa Now.

This book is a great option for people who like Dystopian books and a just reading the series before the first book comes to screen September starring Dylan O' Brein(Stiles on Teen Wolf)

This book has a lot to offer and even if you're not into dystopian, end-of-the-world books. This was never really my genre to begin with, i was always in the romance phase, but this book really blew my mind. The Maze Runner was honestly the first book I've ever read with a male lead and actually liked it. So maybe you might like this too.

My Summer To-Do List

Summer. need I say more. The greatest time in any child's life. No homework, No need to wake up early, and best of all NO SCHOOL. I've been anticipating summer since the first day of school. It might sound bad, I didn't hate school. I loved it. I got to see my friends everyday, learn new things( on some days learn nothing at all), got to step out of my comfort zone and give speeches to a class full of strangers, and got to go home and hear my mom ask "How was school?". I'll miss that the most.

But, nothing can compare the the utter emptiness and inner happiness of going one whole entire day without doing anything but eat, sleep, and watching Netflix. Summertime equals productivity. it's just the way it is.

But, this summer I plan on beating the heat and doing things that I need to do like:

1. Catch Up On Netflix:
http://www.sheknows.com/entertainment/articles/1017253/10-shows-to-watch-on-netflix

I've been avoiding Netflix all school year. I think it's time i told people. Hi, My name is Samantha and I'm addicted to Netflix. If I know myself (and hopefully I do), I know that if I hadn't deactivated my Netflix account My overall average in school would be 75 or 68. That's just not acceptable to me; especially since its junior year the "most important" year, there's no room for Netflix. I'm gonna take this time to catch up on new movies and shows (Orange Is The New Black) in time for their 2nd season.

2. Read More Books:

http://prettylittlebookhead.blogspot.com/2012/04/relatable-books-in-ya.html

If I could count the amount of books I want to read this summer and stacked them on top of each other It would probably go through the roof. I've just gotten into the hang of reading a printed book last week and now I'm on my second book. I think I'm doing good. Now i just have to keep it up. Then I'll just start to breeze through books like I used to.

3. Exercise:

http://bestclipartblog.com/32-exercise-clip-art.html

I am one of those people who believe that the key to a clear mind is a clear body. I'm gonna take those 2 months to sweat out all of the poison I've been putting in my body for 10 months. Trust me, buying junk food for almost everyday for 10 months can do real damage. How I can tell? Making my way to the third floor from the first seems like a journey. Don't worry because when i come back in September; I'll be flying up and down Satan's stairs.

4. Study For The SATs:

http://www.bbc.com/news/education-23925033

So I took the SATs in May and I don't know how I did. But 1550 out of 2400 doesn't sound good. During the summer (August-September) I'm going to study hard for the SATs. I plan on majoring in English and my reading and writing scores are not where they should be. I did better on the math part than any other part. I HATE MATH. I'll proibably group study with some friends. The goal: 1800-1900. Wish me luck.

5. Reconnect With The Piano:
http://forwardwalking.com/2013/08/12/theres-no-app-for-that/

I've put the piano on the back burner. It's just been sitting on my desk collecting dust. I feel really bad. So during the summer, I'll invest all (some) of my free time to improve on my piano skills and learn new songs. I've never taken a piano class and I don't plan to. I highly doubt that Beethoven took a piano lesson. And why waste money when today's technology can teach you what to do on YouTube.

6. Hone My Clay Making Skills:
http://etsygiveaways.blogspot.com/2012/06/10-polymer-clay-charms-giveaway-ends.html

I haven't been making clay charms for that long. But I plan on making a couple of creations this summer and sharing it on this blog. look forward.

My summer's gonna be a filled with goals and achievements. I don't know how im gonna do it. I dont even think I'll do all of these things. But, I gotta at least try.
